The Media and Africa

I will be visiting Africa soon and I wanted to get a handle on what is what, now I have read J.M. Ceotzee's Disgrace, a very raw portrayal of post apartheid South Africa, also if you have seen the film District 9, you will probably know that this was loosely based on the numbered slum districts and forced movements. We know about dictators such as Idi Armin, The football world cup has also been and left its mark, with phone lines and other logistical amenities.
I have even read of tours to poverty areas rather like the antithesis of Hollywood homes of the rich...but these things leave me picking at crumbs about such a large continent.

Here is an TED talk from Uganda Journalist Andrew Mwenda telling us what is really going on and going wrong, within the 5o+ countries and how aid and knowledge are being wasted.

If you are interested in the negative consequences of Aid have a look at this in-depth article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2005/jun/24/g8.debtrelief
And according to Jeremy Rifkin what people were unaware of was Ethiopia was using its agricultural land to produce, rapeseed, cottonseed; lindseed for export to European countries to be use as feed for livestock, the great irony of the famine in Ethiopia

Here is some of flip side in Nigerian better money management
